UP TO YOU
UP TO YOU is an original training scheme addressed to people of both sexes under the age of 30, allowing them to experience theatre in a new way, taking care of each single aspect of a live show: from the choice of the shows to the organisation of fringe events, from logistics to promotion.
UP TO YOU is also a Festival of contemporary theatre, with a participatory artistic direction, in which Qui e Ora works alongside young people under 30 in the training programme.
UP TO YOU tears down the access barriers to the world of theatre, it surpasses the stiff boundaries of roles and enhances the different moments that build an event, providing the participants with the possibility to be the starts of their artistic proposals as well as being active audience members.
UP TO YOU is an innovative project involving young people in an active participation within performing arts. No longer just spectators in an audience, passively taking in the choices made by others, but conscious culture-makers who are at the centre of an artistic project to present to the entire community. The main goal is to create a training programme that encourages reciprocal listening and stimulates critical thinking, a sense of responsibility, and care for the common good. The project seeks to amplify the voice of young people within the community, which is essential to have a different perspective, a sort of magnifying glass that can present a fresh, more innovative view of the world.
UP TO YOU started with edition zero in 2019, which took place in Bergamo with the training programme and performances lasting three days.
The 2020/2021 edition involved two municipalities (Bergamo and Scanzorosciate), and the Festival was spread over five days, with new young people who worked alongside the young experts from edition zero. The 2022 edition welcomed new local and national projects (Come Together, ReM Redazioni Multiculturali, I volti dei diritti) and also staged performances in the municipality of Brusaporto, with 6 shows over 5 days and 4 fringe events. In addition to repeating these collaborative efforts, the 2023 edition took place over a longer number of days. It also saw the participation of the Praticare Alleanze project and took on an international dimension.
Calls are open for the 2025 edition of UP TO YOU
