Il granaio - ARTISTIC RESIDENCIES

Il Granaio (The Granary) is a project by Qui e Ora Residenza Teatrale in collaboration with the Municipality of Verdello, produced with a contribution from the Ministry of Culture (MIC), the Regione Lombardia and the Fondazione Cariplo.

Il Granaio offers spaces in key positions around the various municipalities, where it is possible to attract the attention of the “local audience”.

Il Granaio is a project of artistic residencies with a strong focus on multi-disciplinarity and the blending of different languages and forms.

Another unique aspect of the project is its link to the local areas, the communities and the people who live there.

Each artist can dedicate him/herself to their own project, whether it is an established artistic project or a concept still to be developed – the goal is to propose one’s own way of engaging with the local area.

Il Granaio hosts In-Residence encounters between Artistic Ensembles, providing accommodation and workspaces, Training Programming and Training Sessions, and Initiatives to attract new audiences  to live shows.

Il Granaio offers spacious rehearsal halls and the possibility to put on live shows. Depending on the needs of the selected projects, Qui e Ora offers support through mentoring in areas such as artistic consulting, as well as management, organisational, and administrative support, national networking, and technical assistance.

In-Residence Encounters

The project for Local Artist Residencies in 2024 involves the residence of four artistic formations: Interno 5/ Antonello Tudisco, MORPHEÉ project MORPHEÉ , Sanpapiè – KYRIAROCK project, Daniele Turconi – GHOST TRACK project, Cie Les 3 Plumes – Marco Augusto Chenevier and Alessia Pinto – SINFONIE DEMOCRATICHE (DEMOCRATIC SYMPHONIES) project. The___I love.

This year, we have placed a strong emphasis on hosting residency projects that explore physical language, a concept we believe is important to bring to the local community.

The topic of contemporary society and self-written dramaturgy is of central importance in the projects hosted here. Great attention is also placed on the experimentation with language, a multidisciplinary approach and the creation of processes of integration and the relationship between resident artists and the surrounding environment.

All these factors can lead to cultural enrichment and a thriving cultural atmosphere for both the artists and the local area, in response to the poetics and the cultural work of Qui e Ora.
